Apollo 4, S-IC/S-II Staging, lower camera

The dual-plane staging event that jettisoned the S-IC first stage of the Apollo 4 Saturn V from the S-II second stage. The footage was taken on 9 November 1967 by a camera on the lower side of the vehicle includes the jettison of the interstage ring, or skirt, which is seen to glow as it passes through the extremely hot but transparent exhaust of the S-II engines. This is presented at 23.976 frames per second but was shot at about four times that speed. Therefore, although there was 30 seconds between the two separation events, there is a gap of about two minutes here.
